Sumitomo Corporation Thailand launched this groundbreaking social contribution project, implemented throughout the company’s operations around the world. Titled “100SEED”, the project commemorates Sumitomo Corporation’s centennial year, reflecting on the Company’s mission: To Contribute Broadly to Society.
In Thailand, Sumitomo Corporation Thailand in partnership with Kenan Foundation Asia implemented the Light Up Project. The aim is to provide professional development training to 7th grade teachers teaching at public schools in Ang-Thong province, as part of the 21st Century Teacher Development Program in Inquiry-based Science, Active Math, and Enhanced-Project-based Learning.
The contribution will take place in Ang-Thong province where ONET scores and quality of education improvement are needed (in particular, science and math). The program combines 3 components:
1. Conduct Principal Training Program, a one-day professional development workshop for school principals in Ang-Thong province, as the 21st Century School leaders who are driving the new pedagogies to enhance the education improvement. Also, to be the key enabler to lead and mentor teachers.
2. Conduct Teacher Training Program, a three-day professional development training for 7th grade teachers teaching at public schools in Ang-Thong province, as part of the 21st Century Teacher Development Program in Inquiry-based Science, Active Math, and Enhanced-Project-based Learning.
3. Provide Teacher Professional Development Learning Communities (PLC Mentoring) activities for teachers in small groups to encourage teachers’ networks, to work as they collaborate together in sustaining the development mechanism.
